What do you hope for?
For the past couple years, Bridges of Hope has been asking this question to Lakes Area residents as part of our fall fundraising campaign and as a part of our community-building efforts. Our mission at Bridges of Hope is to build bridges of support, anchored in Christ’s love, between families in the Lakes area and the community assets that can help them thrive and gain hope. But we can’t do that without you, the community!
The responses we’ve received over the years have ranged from personal, to community based, and even as far as reaching to all mankind. It’s been both humbling and inspirational to read these genuine glimpses into some of our community member’s hearts. Hope is a powerful concept and a word we hear a lot. While you can probably feel it in your soul, if asked to explain it, what would you say?
To me, hope is a reservoir of emotional strength; it keeps us holding on when we want to let go. Hope is the full assurance that takes away the anxiety of insecurity. Hope is the moral certainty that grace is sufficient. Biblical hope not only desires something good for the future- it fully expects it to happen.
As shown in Romans 15:13, our God is a God of hope: “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
Hope in God!
