Project Overview
Bridges of Hope, in partnership with law enforcement, county social workers, the Initiative Foundation and Brainerd HRA, city and county representatives all recognize a need to protect houseless men and women in our community and have come together to launch the Brainerd Lakes Area (BLA) Community Shelter, a low-barrier warming shelter that will provide a safe place to sleep for individuals experiencing homelessness. We have set an ambitious goal of opening the warming shelter late fall 2021. In the next few months are goals are to:

How You Can Help
This shelter is in the early stages of its development and Bridges of Hope is seeking partnership from the community to launch it in fall 2021. Your donation will help support:

Leasing a building that could initially house 20 beds

Installing necessary infrastructure, such as lockers for tenants to use

Hiring staff to work at the shelter

Providing a warm cup of coffee to a neighbor in need
